Patient and Visitor Information

  • Visiting Hours

    Orlando Health South Lake Hospital we understand the valuable role that visitors play in a patient’s care, well-being and recovery process. Our visitor guidelines are designed to offer family, loved ones and friends the opportunity to visit and provide support, while also allowing the necessary time for patient care. Visitation hours at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital are generally from 6 am – 9 pm. However, many of the units have their own hours and guidelines.

  • Spiritual Care

    South Lake Hospital’s chaplains help meet the spiritual and emotional needs of our patients, guests and team members. They are clinically trained to provide support to everyone and work side-by-side with the medical team in extending care.

     

    A hospital chaplain can provide a safe place to discuss concerns or fears and decrease stress.  They are available 24/7 to assist with:

     

    • Bereavement support
    • Family meetings
    • Communicating the patient’s spiritual needs with the medical team
    • Contacting religious leaders from your faith tradition
    • Providing education about Living Wills and Health Care Surrogate documents
    • Sacraments and religious rituals
    • Seeking inner peace and strength
    • And much more

    An interfaith chapel is located on the first floor near the cafeteria and is available for prayer or meditation. To reach a chaplain, call the hospital operator (0) and request to page the Chaplain on duty, or ask your medical team to call the chaplain for you.

  • Food Services

     

    SkyTop Cafeteria

     

    The SkyTop Cafeteria is located on the first floor and is proud to offer a variety of healthy food options including hot entrées, deli sandwiches, grill options, a soup and salad bar, pizza, desserts and beverages. The cafeteria accepts cash and credit cards.

     

    Service hours are as follows:

     

    Breakfast:

     

    Monday through Friday, 6:30 am – 10:00 am

    Saturday & Sunday, 7:00 am – 10:00 am

     

    Lunch:

     

    Monday through Friday, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

    Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

     

    Dinner:

     

    Monday through Friday, 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm*

    (Holiday hours may vary.)

     

    *Between 10:00 am – 11:00 am and 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm the cafeteria remains open for a variety of choices, just the hot entrees are not available at these times.

     

    Guest meal trays are available for visiting friends and families. Please ask the nursing staff to assist with ordering.

     

  • Gift Shop

    The gift shop, operated by Lori's Gifts, is on the first floor by the main entrance and offers a wide selection of affordable gifts, plants, flowers, baby gifts, cards, balloons, flowers, candy and other specialty items. The gift shop is open from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Saturday and Sunday. 

  • Guest Services

    Our well informed staff and volunteers will be happy to assist you in finding your way around our campus, providing area information, or helping you in any way we can. They are available to serve patients, their families, visitors, and hospital team members.

    For the comfort and convenience of our guests, a Guest Services representative is available at the Information Desk in the main lobby to assist you. They are available seven days a week from 8:00 am until 9:00 pm. Between 9:00 pm and 5:00 am, the front entrance is closed and visitors and patients must enter through the Emergency Department entrance.

    For your convenience, there is also a Guest Services desk located in the Emergency Department. A representative is available from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm, seven days a week.

  • Internet Service

    Patients and guests are welcome to access South Lake Hospital's free wireless internet.  Instructions are listed below to log onto the wireless network:


    • Open wireless settings. Connect to the "orlandohealthguest" wireless SSID
    • Open a web browser. The Web Authentication page will open
    • Click on the username field and enter: orlandohealth
    • Click on the password field and enter: guest1
    • Click the login button
    • Look for "Login Successful" screen
    • Go to www.OrlandoHealth.com
    • The Acceptance Use Policy web page will display
    • Read and check "Accept terms and conditions" box and hit "Accept"

  • Labyrinth

    An outdoor labyrinth and therapeutic garden is located on the South Lake Hospital campus as a helpful tool for quiet meditation, prayer or relaxation. The labyrinth's physical and symbolic paths have served as centers for prayer and meditation by different faiths and cultures for thousands of years.

  • Mail and Flowers

    Mail and flowers are delivered to patient rooms daily.

  • Protective Services

    Our Protective Services team is available to assist in your safety during your time with us.  They are available to accompany you or your guests to your vehicle after hours if desired, may offer vehicle assistance should you need help, and handle any lost and found items.  If you need to reach protective services please ask your nursing team or dial "0" from a phone in the hospital or 352.394.4071, ext. 0 from an outside line and ask the operator for assistance.

  • Telephones

    There is a telephone available in every patient room. You must dial a "9" to get an outside line for local calls. Long-distance calls can be made by using a phone card.  Cell phones are allowed in certain areas of the hospital such as patient rooms and in the hallway, but please try to keep voices down when talking on the phone in the hallway in order to avoid disturbing other patients and visitors.

  • Parking

    Parking at South Lake Hospital is free of charge in all areas. 


    Patient and visitor parking is available near the Main Entrance and Outpatient Entrance accessible off of Don Wickham Drive.  Emergency Department parking is available off of Oakley Seaver Drive.


    Complimentary valet parking is available at the Outpatient Entrance Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  A complimentary shuttle service is also available to assist visitors and guests. 

  • Television Patient Education

    Television is available in all patient rooms.  In addition to the standard cable service, South Lake Hospital also offers Skylight, and easy-to-use TV interface that offers free internet access, video games, information about the hospital, an on-demand patient education video library, movies available for purchase and the opportunity for patients to give feedback about their stay at South Lake Hospital.  For help with Skylight, please ask your nurse.

  • Tobacco-Free Campus

    South Lake Hospital is a tobacco-free campus. Our tobacco-free policy is intended to create a healthier environment for everyone who comes to South Lake Hospital whether as a patient, visitor or team member.  A tobacco-free campus means that all designated smoking areas are eliminated and the use of all tobacco products (e.g., cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, pipes, etc.) is prohibited on the South Lake Hospital campus. This includes buildings, parking areas or parking lots, and personal vehicles parked on campus.

  • Valuables

    We recommend that you do not keep valuable items in your room.  Personal items and cash should be left at home or placed in the hospital safe for safekeeping.  If you have jewelry or personal items that you would like stored in the safe, please inform your nurse.  South Lake Hospital is not responsible for valuables that are kept in your room.

  • Volunteer Opportunities

    Volunteers play a vital roll in contributing comfort, warmth and compassion to those who enter our doors.  Volunteer opportunities are available in many areas throughout the hospital.  If you would like more information regarding volunteer opportunities, please call 352.394.4071, ext. 4405.

  • Vending Machines

    Snack and beverage machines can be found in the Emergency Department and Centre for Women's Health lobbies.

  • Wheelchairs

    Wheelchairs can be found at the Main Entrance and the Emergency Entrance for your use during your time with us.
